Mark's biography:
Mark Van Patten, host of The Tying Bench, is a nationally recognized Master Fly Tier and Fisherman. This status is awarded to only the best and most experienced fly fishermen. Mark has been heavily involved in the sport for more than 35 years.
His years of experience as a fly fisherman, fly tier, and educator allow Mark to explain the intricacies of fly tying while he is demonstrating the patterns. His love of the sport and respect of tradition has led him to create several of his own patterns. His experience and expertise have allowed him to enhance flies that have been passed down for generations.
Mark is a published author, in demand speaker, a life member of the Federation of Fly Fishers and a leader in the cause of cleaning up Missouri rivers and streams. Numerous awards and honors are testament to Mark's skill and passion for the sport.
